At Sharpa, we manufacture time by making robots useful.
Founded in 2024, Sharpa is an AI robotics company inspired by the Sherpa people of the Himalayas - known for guiding and assisting alpinists on their difficult journey to the summit. We build general purpose robots that assist, not replace, humans - freeing people from repetitive and strenuous work so they can pursue inspiring endeavors.
Our team is made up of geeks and innovators with backgrounds at leading AI and robotics companies. We are dedicated to developing ultra-high performance, autonomous robotic systems capable of adapting to the complexity of real world environments. Sharpa operates out of Singapore, Shanghai and Mountain View.
What you’ll be doing:
- Perform hands-on repair of robotic subsystems, including actuators, sensors, and end-effectors.
- Conduct root-cause analysis on hardware failures, such as internal short circuits or mechanical joint fatigue.
- Debug and maintain robot control software within Linux/Ubuntu environments.
- Implement firmware updates and manage version control to ensure hardware-software compatibility.
- Document repairs logs and contributes to a knowledge base that informs future hardware design iterations.
- Collaborate with R&D teams to test "fixes" in simulation before deploying them to physical units.
What we're looking for:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science.
- Proficiency in C++ or Python and comfort working in a Linux terminal.
- Experience with soldering, cable management, and basic mechanical assembly.
- Basic understanding of feedback control loops (e.g., PID, impedance, or torque control).
Bonus:
- Familiarity with containerization tools like Docker for GPU-accelerated environments.
- Previous internship experience in a hardware-intensive lab or manufacturing setting.
